Religion and ethics

NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.

Scripture

At Burraneer Bay Public School, SRE is delivered on a Tuesday from

•       1:50 – 2:15 pm for  K-2 students

•       2:15 – 2:40pm for Year 3 and Year 4 students

•       2:45 – 3:10pm for Year 5 and Year 6 students.

On enrolment parents/carers are given the SRE and SEE participation letter to complete and return. After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE should be given to the school office, in writing. The school office forwards all changes to the staff members coordinating SRE.

The following SRE classes are offered at Burraneer Bay Public School -

Catholic SRE is provided by the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney. To obtain more information about Catholic SRE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, please visit the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney website https://ccd.sydneycatholic.org/publications/curriculum-resources/

Protestant SRE is provided by Anglican Diocese of Sydney. More information about Combined SRE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, please visit the Anglican and Protestant Diocese of Sydney website  https://whysre.com.au/

Greek Orthodox SRE is provided by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. More information about Greek Orthodox SRE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, please visit the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia website

http://www.greekorthodox.org.au/

We will not be offering Primary Ethics at Burraneer Bay as trained staff are not available.

Students not attending SRE will be supervised by a staff member in a separate space and will participate in meaningful activities.

During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it’s available.

You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.

Visit the department’s website for more information about religion and ethics.
